Trustee (S4) opened discussion on the district’s safety and security manager position for the 2026–27 school year after indicating that Matt has signaled he will not renew his contract. The trustees reviewed the history of the role, including prior private funding that initially supported the position.
A staff member said one outcome of the role was stronger School Resource Officer engagement and closer ties between law enforcement and school activities: "one of the reasons the position was so successful was because it was Matt," the staff member said, noting the SRO now spends more days in school and participates in coaching and student activities.
Trustees asked Matt to prepare a written outline of the position’s scope and recommended duties the board could use to determine whether to refill the role, redistribute responsibilities among existing staff, or seek alternative funding. No final decision or vote was taken; the board left the item open and requested additional documentation and recommendations for next steps.
