The Fairfield Union Local School District treasurer presented the March financial summary and several routine actions during the board meeting.
The treasurer reported year-to-date receipts of about $25.7 million, roughly in line with last year, and said property-tax receipts are down about 1% while income taxes are up about 6%. Expenditures to date were roughly $20.6 million and the general-fund cash balance at month end was reported at about $12.6 million. The treasurer noted a high week of insurance claims in April totaling more than $200,000 and said staff are reviewing claim details to determine whether the spike was an anomaly.
During the same agenda period, the board ratified a standing agreement with the county bank following legal advice to place the contract on the record. One board member asked whether they should abstain from the vote because a spouse is a district employee; staff and other members addressed the point and the motion was carried on roll call.
The board also approved salary schedules for 2026'27 that reflect a 3% across-the-board base increase to align support staff with previously approved teacher increases and remain competitive with neighboring districts. "These salary schedules do reflect a 3% increase across the board to the base," the treasurer said while presenting the item.
All financial motions were approved by roll-call votes. The treasurer said staff will continue to monitor the insurance activity in April and report back to the board.
