Superintendent told the board the district will hire a Rushville Middle School tutor, accepted several coaching resignations, approved a transfer to add dedicated reading teachers, and said the district will move from Lifetouch to Interstate Studios for 2026–27 school pictures.
The Fairfield Union Local School District superintendent summarized personnel and program changes at the boardmeeting Tuesday, including a recommended hire, several resignations and a vendor change for school pictures.
Superintendent Mr. Bilbo told the board he planned to hire Christine Wilmermuth for a one-year tutor contract at Rushville Middle School under the tutor salary schedule for 2026'27; the board moved and approved the contract. "We're definitely excited to bring her on board," Bilbo said, adding that principals would have a chance to introduce her to staff.
Bilbo also announced resignations from the extracurricular staff: he said Mike Graham had stepped down from middle school cross-country and assistant track duties and Keith Barr had resigned as varsity girls basketball coach, effective April 3, 2026. Both resignations were accepted by the board on roll-call votes.
The superintendent outlined a personnel transfer that will establish dedicated reading teachers at two elementary buildings: Audrey Freeland will move from a third-grade classroom to an elementary reading teacher role beginning in 2026'27. Bilbo said the change will allow the district to provide building-level, full-time reading interventions.
Board members approved a one-day unpaid leave request for staff member Christy Kearns on April 20 so she can attend a university award ceremony tied to completion of a master's degree. The substitute-teacher list presented that evening was also approved.
On non-personnel business, Bilbo informed the board the district will transition away from Lifetouch and contract with Interstate Studios for school pictures in 2026'27. "They're a family-owned business and were able to send a representative to meet face to face within 24 hours," Bilbo said, describing the company's local presence and the district'7s aim to maintain service while reducing cost for families under a one-year contract.
The board adjourned its discussion of these items after routine motions and roll-call votes.
