Maywood trustees approve warrants and omnibus payments; $318,906.41 City of Chicago water bill discussed and approved

The Village of Maywood Board of Trustees voted on May 21 to approve a set of warrants and an omnibus package of payments covering vendor services, engineering work and library distributions. The board approved Warrant List No. 200472 through May 16, 2019, totaling $353,662.43.

The omnibus package approved by motion included payments such as $74,781.75 to Edwin Hancock Engineering for public works engineering, $16,856.83 to Fleet Services for retail fuel purchases, $28,872.13 payable to the Maywood Public Library District (personal property replacement tax distributions), and smaller operational payments. Trustee Miguel Lightford moved to approve the warrant list; Trustee Isiah Brandon seconded the motion, and all members present voted in favor.

Item F — a $318,906.41 invoice from the City of Chicago Department of Water for water services covering Feb. 20 through March 18, 2019 — was pulled from the omnibus slate for clarification at the request of Mayor Edwenna Perkins. Village Manager Willie Norfleet Jr. agreed to provide the mayor with the exact amount and additional detail. After that clarification the board voted to approve payment to the City of Chicago as presented.

The omnibus motion and the later approval of the City of Chicago water bill passed on roll-call votes recorded in the minutes. No member of the board asked for further delay to pursue additional independent review in the public record at the meeting.
