Summary
Department of Transportation and Infrastructure representative Michael Lynn reported on sidewalks, road overlays and a cooperative 14 Mile Creek bridge project with Cherokee Nation and ODOT, saying Phase 1 of the US 62 pathway is about 80% complete and the bridge is roughly 70% done; several water projects and repairs were also reported.
Michael Lynn, a representative of the Department of Transportation and Infrastructure, told the Community Services Committee the department is progressing on multiple transportation and water projects across Cherokee Nation territory.
"Phase 1 is currently under construction, probably around 80% completed on that," Lynn said of the US 62 pathway sidewalk project, which officials have split into phases to keep construction moving. He said design work is under way for Phase 2 and additional phases are planned.
Lynn highlighted local road work and bridge projects, saying the Redbarn Road (also known locally as Jones Road) overlay is complete and awaiting final inspection and that Mud Valley Road was repaired after flood erosion. He described the 14 Mile Creek bridge project, a cooperative effort among Cherokee Nation, Cherokee County and the Oklahoma Department of Transportation, as "around 70 percent completed" and under construction in the Moody's community north of Tahlequah.
On water and wastewater, Lynn said crews completed 26 new water and sewer installs in the past month and responded to 41 repair calls. He noted final inspections were attended for the Whitmore Sewer Project in Cherokee County and the Stillwell Flow Equalization Basin project in Adair County, and that the department is completing capacity-development surveys and an infrastructure needs assessment tied to the Mankiller Soap Water Act report.
Looking ahead, Lynn said the Summerfield Hollow overlay in Delaware County has been awarded and the contractor is anticipated to begin around May 18. He also said the department is scheduling final inspections for the Noida and Lenapeau water tower projects.
The report did not include contractual bidders or cost details beyond scheduled starts and percent-complete updates. Committee members offered praise and no substantive questions followed; the chair thanked Lynn for the update and said members appreciated the work.
