Facilities committee outlines summer repairs and solar-project civil work

Chair (S5) opened the facilities portion of the meeting with a rundown of planned summer maintenance and small capital repairs across district buildings. She told the committee the district intends to install localized shutoffs in high school and middle school bathrooms so fixtures can be replaced without shutting whole buildings' water off, and to reorganize and clean storage rooms that have accumulated materials.
She listed several maintenance projects planned for the summer: touch-up repainting (aiming to finish the elementary first floor), grinding and replacing a few high spots and slabs on sidewalks, re-striping bus parking lines for visibility and repairing a wall damaged by a bus (repair already paid for and expected to be scheduled in June). On the solar project, the chair said district staff met with SiteLogix and a structural engineer and have drawings for the concrete pour for tanks; McClure was expected to finish remaining civil work in the last two weeks of April, requiring coordination for parking and vehicle moves.
Committee members asked that drawings be circulated; the chair agreed to forward digital and paper copies and to follow up with contractors on definite dates. Members also discussed a contractor quote for drainage work at the softball field (approximately $30,000) and the need to consider deeper site remediation where fill has been disturbed. The meeting then moved to the finance agenda.
