Measure LS, a $122 million bond measure for the Lancaster School District, would fund health-and-safety upgrades, replace more than 300 aging portable classrooms and improve campus security if approved by voters on Nov. 5, a presenter said.
The measure is described as a district classroom repair and school safety package that would bring facilities into compliance with health codes and provide space and security improvements “to support high quality instruction,” the presenter said. The presenter added: “Measure LS is the Lancaster School District classroom repair and school safety measure that will appear on your November 5th ballot.”
The presenter said the measure would address hundreds of portable classrooms currently in use, many of which are deteriorating. “There are more than 300 portable classrooms at our schools. Many are more than 25 years old and are falling apart, including structural damage and water leaks,” the presenter said, and added that Measure LS funds would replace decaying portables with modern, permanent classrooms.
On cost, the presenter said: “Measure LS is a $122 million school bond measure.” The presenter provided an estimated tax impact, saying that if the measure passes it “will cost homeowners $0.03 per $100 of assessed value.”
The presenter closed by thanking listeners and reminding them to vote on Nov. 5. The measure will appear on the Nov. 5 ballot; voters will decide whether to authorize the bond.
