The White Pine County Tourism and Recreation Board reviewed a Placer.ai dashboard for the Ely Renaissance Village covering Oct. 1, 2024 through Sept. 30, 2025 and discussed next steps for marketing.
Board members noted that the Placer.ai data showed clear visitor 'spike times' in certain periods and observed that the data names multiple local businesses that may benefit from those events. Members suggested sharing positive findings with the affected businesses and using the data to shape event marketing and outreach.
In the absence of Executive Director Kyle Horvath and the Marketing Manager, the board discussed broader questions about how to reach diverse audiences: how to drive awareness among younger locals who use social media and older residents who do not, and the creation of a single dedicated page where residents and visitors can find all event information. Members also noted that YouTube advertising had declined and suggested discussing strategies with marketing staff (identified in the minutes as Errol).
The board reviewed an operations report from the Nevada Northern Railway Foundation and praised a Santa's Reindeer flyer; they also discussed the upcoming arrival and display of the Capitol Christmas Tree on Nov. 3 from 5–7 p.m. at the railroad and preliminary plans for activities surrounding that event.
