The Collierville School Board opened its March 25 business meeting by recognizing district Educators of the Year and presenting plaques and honoraria.
Jeff Jones, introducing the awards on behalf of the Collierville Rotary, described the Rotary’s long-running recognition program and the selection process used by district principals. “You would be hard pressed to find a more dedicated friend of education than the Collierville Rotary Club,” Jones said as he invited honorees forward.
Superintendent Dr. Dyer joined Rotary representatives to present personalized plaques and $200 honoraria for each recipient. The board and audience received brief biographies of the honorees, who included teachers from Bailey Station, Collierville Elementary, Crosswind, Shilling Farms, Sycamore, Tara Oaks, Tyrell Middle School and West Collierville Middle School, a Collierville Schools principal of the year and the district supervisor of the year.
The recognition segment highlighted years of service and educational credentials and closed with a group photo opportunity. The meeting then moved on to routine business.
