CED advances five pass-through grants totaling $2.72 million for arts and community organizations

A staff member read each ordinance amending the 2026 grant fund to provide supplemental appropriations from the PA DCED local share account and related programs: $250,000 for the Resurrected Community Development Corporation; $400,000 for the Jewish Community Center of the Lehigh Valley; $296,878 for the Museum of Indian Culture; $1,000,000 from a state redevelopment capital program for the Baum School of Art; and $775,000 for the Allentown Art Museum.
The measures were presented as pass-through grants and drew little debate. Committee member motions to advance each bill were made by a single committee member and seconded; the chair called for voice votes and committee members answered ‘Aye,’ advancing each item to full council.
The session included brief procedural notes from staff about grant sources and the intended recipients. The committee did not adopt final appropriations at this meeting; each bill will next appear before the full council for final action.
The meeting closed after additional staff updates and public comment about workforce and redevelopment efforts.
