Police Chief Iacono reported to Council that the department responded to 6,701 calls for service in 2025 (479 in December), completed active‑shooter training hours for officers, and recorded 41 criminal arrests for the year, down from the 70s the prior year. He noted a software glitch had underreported traffic citations and that the county will roll out a new radio system with new portables and vehicle radios by year‑end.
Following the report, Council approved purchase of a patrol vehicle at a total cost of $60,799, which includes $46,799 for the vehicle and up to $14,000 for vehicle upfit. The motion to purchase the vehicle was moved by Mr. Fitzpatrick and seconded by Ms. Birdwell and carried.
Chief Iacono emphasized departmental training and coordination with county systems as part of ongoing efforts to improve response and officer preparedness.
