The Perry County Fiscal Court recognized three members of its grants department — Joy Harrod, Rhonda Williams and Ben Wilder — for completing Kentucky Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) training and earning certification in grant administration.
Committee member presented the certificates, saying the CDBG certification "is not easy to obtain" and that those credentials strengthen the county's ability to manage funding, remain compliant and compete for projects that improve infrastructure and services across Perry County. The speaker credited the grants team with helping secure vehicles and equipment and covering administrative costs that support county operations.
The court also approved RFD No. 1, LGEDF 266 — a Local Government Economic Development Funds award of $6,807.35 for a project described as 'Kids Closet' business development. Committee member explained LGEDF is intended for business growth, retention and development.
Separately, the court approved draw requests for the Sky View Water and Sewer Project. Committee member identified multiple funding sources for the draws, including the Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC) and the Kentucky Infrastructure Authority (KIA), and emphasized these are disaster-recovery funds restricted to eligible projects in higher-ground communities rather than for unrelated uses such as blacktop paving.
Next steps: The grants team will continue grant administration and reporting; draw requests will proceed with the required grant reporting to the identified agencies.
