Perry County approves funding draw for Skyview housing water and sewer

Perry County Fiscal Court approved a draw to support water and sewer work for the Skyview Higher Ground housing development, a county presenter said.
"Essential water and sewer services have now been extended to the site," Angie, a county staff member, told the court. She said five homes are complete and occupied and 22 additional homes are under construction, allowing families displaced by recent floods to begin returning to permanent homes.
The chair read the draw total as $253,008.80 and itemized several KIA draws and an Appalachian Regional Commission contribution toward the amount. He thanked state and federal partners and the county grant staff for managing detailed accounting of grant dollars.
The motion to approve the Skyview draw was made by Spencer and seconded by Combs; members present responded "aye" and the motion carried.
Officials described Skyview as a long‑term recovery effort tied to the 2022 and 2025 flood disasters that aims to provide resilient housing and modern utilities to affected families.
