Fiscal court approves routine minutes, multiple fund expenditures, library appointment and moves to closed session

The Christian County Fiscal Court handled routine business at its March meeting, approving prior meeting minutes, multiple fund expenditures (general, road, LGA, E-911, health insurance and others), accepting treasurer reports and confirming a library board appointment.
The clerk called the roll and the court approved the minutes after a motion to dispense the reading. The court then moved through approvals of general fund expenditures and a series of fund-specific expenditures by motion and voice or roll-call affirmation. The treasurer presented budget transfers (effective Feb. 10 and Feb. 24, 2026), the cash and investment report for Feb. 28, 2026, and revenue and expense statements for the July 1, 2025–Feb. 28, 2026 period; the court accepted those reports.
The judge recommended Aaron Wester Westernfield to fill the unexpired term on the Christian County Library Board effective March 24 through Aug. 31, 2027; the court moved, seconded and approved the appointment by voice vote. Miss Sherry reported February animal-shelter figures: $13,402.96 in shelter fees, $527.85 in Kentucky sales tax, 249 incoming animals and 156 adoptions (including 74 dogs and 42 cats). She thanked volunteers and donors, and noted a Rural King equipment donation.
During public comment, Sandra Price of Union Creek Subdivision asked how many ICE detainees are currently held in Christian County and how citizens or churches might assist with overcrowding. Officials directed her to request disclosable information from the jail through an open-records request or to contact the jail directly for available, disclosable data.
Near the meeting's close, the court approved a motion to enter closed session pursuant to KRS 61.810(1)(b).
