Lewistown approves downtown planning TIF support and adopts updated fire code

The commission approved Resolution 4211, endorsing up to $20,000 in TIF funds as a local match for a Lewistown Downtown Association downtown master plan. Staff said the full plan may cost $80,000–$100,000 and that the TIF board recommended partial funding to help secure outside grants. The vote was recorded as unanimous.
The commission then approved Resolution 4212, a TIF grant application from Broadway Building LLC for facade, masonry and window work at 519 West Broadway; the TIF board recommended $20,000 per contract. Commissioners moved and seconded the resolution and recorded unanimous Aye votes.
On the code front, the commission completed the second reading of ordinance 1774 to adopt the 2021 International Fire Code. Staff explained the city is adopting the same base code as the state, with the option to remain more restrictive in certain provisions such as propane tank limits. A brief question about omitted definitions was answered by staff who noted the city references state administrative rules and can reinsert items if necessary. The second reading was approved by roll call.
All three actions were approved in the meeting; staff will proceed with implementation and any required administrative follow‑ups.
