The Calcasieu Parish Police Jury recognized Lindsay Powers on April 9 with a certificate of appreciation marking 22 years as infrastructure administrator in the parish information technology department. The presentation took place during the regular meeting before the body and guests.
Mister Burton, who introduced the item, said Powers was hired in May 2004 and remained in the same role as the department’s infrastructure administrator through decades of changing technology. "He kept all the communications going," Burton said, noting Powers was relied on for email, phones and network services and that staff repeatedly described him as "professional, accountable, respected, and trustworthy." Burton read the certificate noting Powers’ two decades-plus of service to Calcasieu Parish.
Lindsay Powers told the jury he is "generally...genuinely proud of what we built together as a team," and thanked his wife, friends and coworkers for support. "After 22 years with the Calcasieu Parish Police Jury Technology department, it's finally time for me to log off and start a new chapter in my life," Powers said. He said he was proud of the systems, solutions and relationships the team built and that he would carry those memories into retirement.
President Abshire and other jurors offered brief remarks of thanks and best wishes. The jury took a photo with Powers and the certificate following the presentation.
