Duplin County Schools board approves consent agenda, personnel changes and a local budget request

The Duplin County Schools board on April 14 conducted routine business including approval of the meeting agenda and consent items, an executive session on personnel and confidential student information, approval of personnel recommendations, and approval of a local budget request and a change to the May meeting date.

Chairman Davis opened the meeting and asked for a motion to approve the agenda. "I got a motion by Miss Edwards, a second by Mister Keenan," the chair said; the board approved the agenda by voice vote. Later the consent agenda was approved after a motion by Mister Keenan and a second by Miss Edwards.

The board voted to enter executive session for personnel matters and to prevent disclosure of confidential student information; Miss Edwards moved to enter executive session and the motion was seconded. After returning to open session, the board moved to approve the personnel recommendations discussed in executive session (motion by Miss Edwards; second by Mister Jones) and the chair announced the motion carried.

During the superintendent's report, Superintendent Tindall requested action on a local budget request contained in the meeting folder. Miss Edwards moved to approve the local budget request; Mister Jones seconded and the board approved the request by voice vote.

The board also discussed moving the May meeting date because the State Board of Education will meet in Duplin County; members agreed to change the district meeting to May 12 after a motion by Mister Jones and a second by Miss Edwards.

Most votes were taken by voice with the chair calling for "aye"; the meeting record reflected motions carried and the chair announced each motion carried. No roll-call tallies with named votes were recorded in the transcript.

The board adjourned following a motion and second, and Chairman Davis thanked those attending.
