City staff informed the council the state Department of Natural Resources authorized a $490,000 flood-hazard mitigation grant intended for repetitive-loss properties. Steven Lang said the award would be paired with a local option sales-tax match, with each funding 50% of eligible acquisitions or mitigation work.
"We received the initial authorization for a $490,000, DNR flood hazard mitigation grant," Lang said, and recommended a resolution confirming the city has the matching funds available. Council asked clarifying questions about next steps; staff said formal grant documents would return to council for signature and implementation detail.
The council adopted the resolution unanimously, 7–0. Staff said they will return with the final grant documents and next steps for acquiring or mitigating repetitive-loss structures.
