Lincoln County wins $32,694 state grant to preserve historical records

County Clerk Nancy Jackson told the Lincoln County Fiscal Court on Jan. 13 that the county had been awarded a $32,694 grant from the Kentucky Department of Libraries and Archives to refurbish and preserve historical county books and documents.
The grant will fund placing wills, marriage documents and other archival materials in plastic protective sleeves and returning them to bound volumes for long-term preservation. Nancy Jackson moved to participate and enter into the proposed agreement with the Kentucky Department of Libraries and Archives; Magistrate Joe Stanley seconded the motion and the court approved unanimously.
The approval authorizes the county clerk’s office to execute the contract and begin preservation work according to the grant’s terms.
