Lincoln County court awards Judicial Center HVAC, authorizes senior-center system and tractor purchase

Lincoln County’s Fiscal Court on Jan. 13 approved several capital and maintenance expenditures, awarding a Judicial Center HVAC contract, authorizing a new system for the Senior Citizens Center and approving a tractor purchase for the Road Department.
The court received a single bid from Merriman Heating & Air for HVAC equipment at the Judicial Center totaling $555,777; the Administrative Office of the Courts had approved funding for the project up to $611,000. Magistrate Faulkner moved to accept Merriman’s bid and Magistrate King seconded; the court voted unanimously to award the contract.
For the Senior Citizens Center, Merriman submitted two Bryant equipment quotes: a natural-gas option for $35,250 and an electric option for $31,250. After discussion the court favored the natural-gas Bryant system and approved acceptance of the bid for up to $36,000 (motion by Magistrate Faulkner, seconded by Magistrate Gutenson). The court recorded that the Senior Citizens Center system currently functions at about 50 percent capacity.
The court also discussed Blue Lick Road, where a slide and deterioration were reported between Martins Trail and Kentucky Highway 198; vendor measurements of the repair length differed (225 feet vs. 300 feet). A grant agreement for $165,000 had been approved previously using emergency state funds; Judge Adams and County Attorney Daryl Day noted a $20,000 shortfall that may require amending the agreement to cover additional repairs.
Road Department Foreman Jeremy Vanhook reported a surplus 6140M John Deere tractor available for $39,000 with approximately 3,300 miles; Magistrate Stanley moved to purchase the tractor and Magistrate Gutenson seconded. The court approved the purchase unanimously.
The actions clear immediate procurement steps and leave follow-up tasks to relevant departments to complete contracts and coordinate any grant amendments.
