Student and parents tell Denton ISD board they faced a harmful culture in a high‑school football program

Dustin Sharp, who identified himself as an upcoming senior at Braswell High School, told the board: "It has been 7 months since I last set foot on the football field… I made a difficult decision to walk away to protect my mental health," and described a leadership style he and peers experienced as "overly harsh, controlling, and emotionally discouraging." He said he and other students had reported concerns through district channels but were met with silence.

A subsequent speaker, Nikki Sharp, said parents and students had circulated a video she described as showing students being bullied by program administration and said no corrective changes had followed. "The lack of action that has taken place to protect these students is unacceptable," she said.
