Denton ISD benefits director reports strong clinic use, high satisfaction as district negotiates next-year health rates

Denton ISD’s benefits staff briefed trustees April 14 on the district’s benefits programs and its Concentra employee clinic, reporting rising utilization and high satisfaction.
Mr. Bomburger reviewed the district’s healthcare offerings, voluntary benefits and the district clinic. He said the district recorded about 2,560 clinic visits between July 1 and Dec. 31 and that roughly 380 employees have selected an in‑clinic primary care clinician. "This year, if you go from July 1 to December 31, we had 2,560 visits..." Bomburger said, adding that the clinic’s satisfaction survey year-to-date is 94 percent.
Bomburger also described workers' compensation and occupational services handled through the clinic and said the district is negotiating pharmacy benefit manager contracts and expects to present detailed premium numbers in May. Trustees asked about access and the clinic’s role in controlling healthcare costs; staff said the clinic helps keep some expenses inside the district’s programs and improves access for employees.
President Burns and trustees praised the clinic expansion and asked staff to return with financial details when negotiations conclude. No changes to benefit programs were approved at the meeting; staff said the consent agenda included an updated contract with Concentra that will be published in the district packet.
