Wythe County affirms local emergency burn ban and says new dispatch system went live

Supervisor Hankins asked the board to consent to the emergency declaration and burn ban, noting the long-term forecast showed little sustained precipitation. The board voted by roll call to approve the emergency declaration and implement the burn ban.
Hankins also reported that the county's new computer-aided dispatch (CAD) system went live that morning. "It went live this morning...it appears to be functioning largely as it should," Hankins said, adding that a few systems still need to be tied into the new CAD over the next couple of days.
What happens next: the burn ban remains in effect until conditions change or the board rescinds the declaration; county staff will complete integrations and monitor CAD performance.
