Chairman Nathan Boehm opened a public hearing at 6:00 p.m. for the measure’s second reading and called three times for public comment; no members of the public spoke and the hearing was closed at 6:03 p.m. Commissioner Zachmeier moved to adopt the resolution and Commissioner Tokach seconded. A roll-call vote recorded Zachmeier, Tokach, Morrell, Buckley and Boehm voting aye; the motion carried 5-0.
The resolution removes the temporary prohibition that previously halted permitting and development of DAC projects in Morton County. The county did not, during the meeting, adopt project-specific permits or approvals; the vote restored the county’s ability to accept applications and consider proposals under applicable land-use and permitting rules.
The commission did not receive public comment during the hearing. The next procedural steps for any proposed DAC project would follow existing permitting and land-use review processes; no such application was before the commission at the March 24 meeting.
