Mahomet trustees move bill list and treasurer's report to consent agenda; police report progress on e-ticketing

At the Jan. 20, 2026 Village of Mahomet study session, the Board of Trustees approved moving routine finance items to the consent agenda and heard brief departmental updates.

Carole Tempel, the village director of finance, described a revised bill-list format that separates paid and unpaid items since the last board meeting; she said several bills are set to auto-pay (citing Ameren as an example) to avoid late fees and noted that the first business-district grant payment had been made to Yellow & Company (amount not specified). Trustee Colravy moved to place the bill list on the consent agenda; Trustee Harpst seconded, and Clerk Dawn Mohr called the roll. The motion carried on a 6-0 vote.

Tempel then summarized the treasurer's report. Trustee Oliger moved to move the treasurer's report to the consent agenda; Trustee Schriver seconded. Clerk Mohr called the roll and the motion carried 6-0.

Chief of Police Dave Smysor updated the board on progress upgrading the department's e-ticketing software. President Jason Tompkins thanked the chief for his communication and work on the project.

Village Administrator Patrick Brown provided a brief status update on the Mid America Road project, saying details are still being worked out and expressing the belief that construction will begin this year (2026). No formal action was taken on that item during the study session.

Procedural note: Trustee Schriver moved to adjourn at 7:08 p.m.; Trustee Metzger seconded. Clerk Mohr called the roll and the motion carried 6-0.
