After the joint training the board convened as the Board of Adjustments and opened its regular meeting at about 8:09 p.m. The applicant for the scheduled public hearing asked to be removed from the agenda in writing, and staff said the public hearing was canceled.
The chair then called for approval of minutes from the Dec. 18 meeting. A member moved to approve the minutes and another seconded; the board approved the motion by voice vote. Later, a motion to close the meeting was moved and seconded and approved by voice vote. The chair thanked the presenter for the training before adjourning.
Board housekeeping: Members discussed a timing detail for roll call: the chair (who was not present at the initial roll call) was noted as arriving at 6:40 p.m. and assuming the chair role for the Board of Adjustments portion of the meeting. One member asked whether alternates can second motions and was told alternates may participate in discussion and may second motions but cannot cast votes unless seated as a voting member.
No contested hearings, votes on ordinances, or other formal outcomes were recorded in the transcript; the meeting closed following the procedural business.
