The Oscoda County Board of Commissioners met March 24, 2026 and completed routine business including approval of the agenda and the consent calendar, committee appointment changes, and adjournment.
Commissioner Charles E. Varner, Jr. called the meeting to order at 10:00 a.m. The board approved the agenda on a motion by Joe Breaugh and Tom McCauley (motion 2026-072); the vote was recorded 4-0. The consent calendar, which included unofficial minutes for March 10 and the Claims and Audit Docket of $58,638.68, passed on a McCauley/Handrich motion (motion 2026-073) by roll call.
Commissioner Varner temporarily appointed Commissioner Joe Breaugh as the Airport Liaison, replacing Commissioner Jackie Bondar. The board acknowledged the resignation of Richard Castle from the Economic Development Corporation & Brownfield Board effective March 4, 2026 (motion 2026-075), expressing regret.
Commissioners reported committee activity and external meetings, including District Health Department #2 attendance, Road Commission meetings, EDC & Brownfield Board attendance and presentations on regional land banks by Doug Baum and Jennifer Riggs. The board adjourned at 10:51 a.m. on a Handrich/Breaugh motion (motion 2026-077). The next regular meeting is scheduled for April 14, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. in the Oscoda County Courthouse Annex in Mio.
