The presentation referenced state posting requirements tied to adoption of an annual operating budget and explained the board created narrative pages that define terms such as foundational allowance and categorical grants and present monthly spending and check registers with context.
Staff also showed an evolving project slideshow intended to provide background, status indicators, site plans and timelines for capital projects (the presenter referenced 2017 bond information and COVID-related spending as examples). The site will include an RFP/open-bids section and a dedicated place for project-specific questions, and the board said they will direct community members to the new pages for routine inquiries.
Trustees asked clarifying questions about how bond spending and other reports would be posted and whether sponsorship and facility advertising information would be surfaced appropriately; staff said the pages will be updated as more permanent information becomes available.
The board cited Section 18(2) of Public Act 94 of 1979 (as read during the meeting) when describing state posting obligations and said the new pages are intended to meet those legal requirements while making the content accessible to families and community members.
Next steps: district staff will continue to populate the pages, add clickable links as projects reach permanent status, and use the site as a primary reference for FAQs and procurement information.
