Presenters explained construction sequencing and mitigation: heavy demolition and the masonry connection to the existing building (the noisiest items) will be scheduled to minimize impact on classrooms; foundation and utility work will begin in the summer, with fenced construction zones and temporary accessible paths to keep playground and bus loop operations functioning during the school year. Contract documents include calendar restrictions that limit disruptive work on testing or other sensitive school days, and the district said a superintendent-level project contact will be on site to address disruptions immediately.
Board members asked about displacement of playground equipment and logistics; presenters said playground use will be preserved and any resizing is limited, and the athletic field will remain full size though some outfield adjustments are possible.
The board approved the award by voice vote and directed staff to continue posting timelines and updates to the public‑facing project page.
