Northfield work session: construction office resignation, schedule updates and unanimous adjournment

Municipal Clerk Mary Canesi called the City of Northfield work session to order at 6:03 p.m. on Feb. 24 and read the meeting notice, which had been advertised in the Press of Atlantic City on Jan. 10 in accordance with Public Law 1975, Chapter 231.
Council members offered brief committee reports. Councilman Polistina said a budget meeting is scheduled for Feb. 26 from 4–6 p.m. Councilman Dewees thanked Superintendent Boyd and Public Works for clearing snow from streets following the recent storm. Councilwoman Kern announced a resignation in the Construction Office, said Clerk Canesi had solicited several applications quickly, and reported that the Construction Official agreed to remain in the role until a replacement is found.
Bucci announced that the FAN recognition honoring the Cape Atlantic Junior Football League varsity champions (Northfield Cardinals football team and cheer squad) was postponed to March 24. Kern also noted that the Mainland Surf team qualified for the nationals, scheduled for June 12–14, and encouraged community support for students participating in school events.
During review of the regular-meeting agenda, Polistina pointed out that the upcoming budget meeting did not appear in the Meeting Notices section; Council President Bucci confirmed agenda assignments and Councilwoman Kern said she would abstain from Resolutions 85 and 86-2026.
Council President Bucci opened the public portion for five-minute comments; seeing no one wishing to speak, she closed the public session. "At 6:16 p.m., on motions properly made and seconded, all members present were in favor of adjourning this meeting," the minutes state, and the session ended.
The council did not take other formal votes during the work session; several items were left for future meetings, including a Planning Board review of tax map revision fees and additional changes to the road opening ordinance fees.
