Councilman Notaro reported sewer operations and a planned technology trial during the Jan. 20 City of Northfield work session.
Notaro said the Sewer Department has been conducting manhole inspections and performing routine line maintenance. He reported 154 utility mark‑outs this month, which will require road opening permits, and provided general sewer flow totals. Notaro also said a Vialytics software agreement is now with the solicitor and the council would proceed with a free trial if the paperwork is approved.
No formal contract award or expenditure was approved at the session; Notaro characterized the software step as a free trial pending legal review. The operations report emphasized routine maintenance and monitoring—manhole inspections, line work, and tracking of utility mark‑outs—rather than a change in service levels.
Council members did not vote on procurement at the Jan. 20 work session.
