Summary
The board approved a procurement approach for owner-provided audio-visual and IT equipment at the convention center, directing staff to bring back contract awards and recommendations (including possible fiber providers and ProBlue network engineering proposals) in the coming months.
At its April 15 meeting the Monroe County Capital Improvement Board approved a procurement approach for owner-provided audio-visual (AV) and IT equipment for the convention center project and asked staff to return with contract awards and recommendations in the coming months.
Staff explained that the Weddell construction contract (CMC) includes pathways and interior fiber-backbone work between telecommunications rooms. The board heard that an external fiber service provider will still be contracted (candidates mentioned were Smithville and Comcast) and that ProBlue is the contracted network engineer already working with Talisha's team for configuration and professional services. For AV equipment that cannot be procured through state Qualified Purchasing Agreements (QPA), the team will use IMEG to confirm proper procurement procedures and bring recommended awards back to the board.
The board voted to approve the approach as presented and to receive proposed awards and contracts for actual equipment and services within the next one to three months.
No specific contract awards, dollar amounts or vendor selections were made at the meeting; staff said they will present those for board consideration when vendor proposals and procurement reviews are complete.
