Summary
At the April 15 CIB meeting, Weddell representative Logan Turner reported that the convention center project reached "Sequence 7," 52,000 pounds of supplemental steel are onsite, four of five slab pours are finished and elevated-deck pours are planned next week; roof installation is about 50% complete.
Logan Turner of Weddell reported to the Monroe County Capital Improvement Board on April 15 that work on the convention center expansion has reached "Sequence 7," a milestone Turner said means the site no longer requires a crane on-site every day and that decking and detailing are underway.
Turner described recent milestones including a beam-signing event at the back-of-house area that will become the future kitchen, 52,000 pounds of supplemental steel staged in the exhibit hall for partition walls, and progress on exterior screen wall foundations and column wraps. Turner said Weddell has poured four of five slab pours; the fifth (the kitchen/back-of-house slab) is expected in late April or may fall into May. He said elevated-deck pours are planned for the next week, which will allow second-floor work and overhead rough-in above the ceiling to begin.
Turner also reported exterior work progressing: brick column wraps, curtain-wall framing and dense glass installation, with roof work approximately 50% complete. He credited multiple contractors and workers for the progress.
The update included several concrete and sequencing details the board may use to track upcoming inspections and coordination with other trades. No schedule change or budget amendments were announced at the meeting.
The board thanked Turner and said it will continue to receive construction updates at future meetings.
