Summary
The Dublin School Board announced a community-wide survey to inform school boundary redistricting; a proposed map is expected this summer and any approved changes would take effect in the 2027-28 school year. The board said the survey closes April 20 (year not specified).
Amy Mesick, president of the Dublin School Board, and John Moershausen, superintendent of the Dublin City Schools, announced a community-wide survey Tuesday as the next step in the district’s redistricting process.
Mesick said the board has worked with focus groups and outside experts and is now seeking broader community input: “We have reached an important point in the redistricting process, and today, we are launching a community wide survey.” She added that the survey “will remain open through April 20” and urged families and staff to review the newsletter’s background materials and FAQs before responding. (The announcement did not specify a year for the April 20 deadline.)
Why it matters: Redrawing school boundaries can affect student assignments, transportation and school capacity. The board framed the survey as the “final opportunity for community input” before it provides criteria to mapping consultants.
Moershausen said the board adjusted its timeline to give families and staff clarity sooner and aims to have a proposed map ready this summer. “Our goal is to have a proposed map developed and shared with the community this summer,” he said. He said any approved boundary changes would take effect with the 2027-28 school year.
The superintendent also said the board intends to adopt a boundary-criteria list in May; the announcement did not specify a year for that May timeline. The criteria will be handed to a GIS firm that will produce maps based on the boundary information the board supplies, Moershausen said.
The district provided a newsletter and a redistricting hub with timelines, FAQs and additional details and encouraged community members to consult those resources before completing the survey. “Your input will guide our decisions that are ahead,” Moershausen said.
No formal vote or decision on final boundaries was reported during the announcement. The board emphasized that no draft maps exist yet and no assignments have been made.
