The Cass County Board of Supervisors appointed Dorene Sothman as Executive Assistant to the Board at an annual salary of $70,000, effective Feb. 16, 2026, during a special session held Feb. 12, 2026. The meeting convened at 9:00 a.m. in the county courthouse board room and adjourned at 9:03 a.m.
Board member Wendy Richter moved to approve the session agenda; Stephen Green seconded and the board voted “All ayes,” carrying the motion. Later in the session, Stephen Green moved and Bernard Pettinger seconded the appointment of Dorene Sothman. The motion carried with the minutes recording ayes from Steve Baier, Bernard Pettinger, Stephen Green, Wendy Richter and Mark O’Brien and no nays.
The special session concluded after Mark O’Brien moved to adjourn at 9:03 a.m., a motion seconded by Stephen Green and approved unanimously. The board recorded its next meeting date as Feb. 17, 2026.
