Snohomish County Council unanimously adopts two ordinances updating voting precinct boundaries

The Snohomish County Council voted unanimously Wednesday to adopt two ordinances that update local voting precinct boundaries and the county’s District Court electoral district precinct listings.
Jim Martin, council staff, told the council Ordinance 26-013 is the annual update to voting precincts under state law and county code. "There are 13 changes to precincts to reduce voter counts and 8 precinct changes due to annexations with an increase of total precincts of 6, bringing the total number of precincts to 875," Martin said. He asked the council to move the ordinance for consideration.
The council opened public testimony on the item and received no speakers. Chair Dunn moved to approve Ordinance 26-013; the motion was seconded and, after a roll-call vote, the ordinance passed 5-0 with Council members Nehring, Mead, Vice Chair Lowe, Council member Peterson and Chair Dunn voting in favor.
The council then took up Ordinance 26-014, described by staff as an update to District Court electoral district voting precinct listings in Snohomish County Code chapter 2.12. Martin said the District Court boundaries had not been updated since 2018 and that the ordinance updates those precinct lists to reflect recent precinct changes. No public testimony was offered on this item. Chair Dunn moved approval; the motion passed on a 5-0 roll-call vote.
