"This field is an inspiration field because it's a smooth surface. It is completely ADA accessible," Susan, the parks presenter, said, describing the new T‑ball sized field with lighting, a 20‑by‑20 shelter pavilion and sidewalks to improve community access. She said TE Davis has been awarded the general‑contractor role and the city expects a notice to proceed on May 8; the contract is planned to run about 220 days.
Susan said lighting from a former skate park will be repurposed and upfitted by the lighting contractor. She said the Miracle Field and other waterfront projects (regional sewer, New River boardwalk, shoreline improvements) have grant funding in place and the City is ready to move several projects forward once construction begins.
On the dog park, Susan described a Commons location chosen for access, existing parking and restrooms, and a design with separate small‑dog and large‑dog areas, gated access and a registration requirement for dog owners. Staff said some trees will be retained to provide shade and that in‑house crews will complete much of the work to help control costs.
Next steps: staff will issue the notice to proceed for the Inspiration Field, continue outreach on the Commons dog park details (registration rules, fencing and crossings), and return to council if changes to schedule or funding are needed.
