Commissioner Bryce Kloots announced at the April 14 meeting that it would be his last session on the Douglas County Planning Commission. Kloots said family and business obligations require his full attention and that he could no longer serve at the level he expects of the position.
In a prepared statement he reviewed his service since his December 2019 appointment, said he prioritized adherence to the master plan, rural and agricultural preservation, and responsible growth management, and thanked county staff and fellow commissioners by name for their collaboration and support.
"It is with a heavy heart that I announced that today will be my last day as a Douglas County Planning Commissioner," Kloots said. He added that he intends to remain engaged in the community even after leaving the commission.
Commission members and staff offered tributes and thanks; Chair Bruno and Vice Chair praised Kloots' diligence and the civility he brought to deliberations. The commission adjourned after Kloots' remarks.
