The Spokane County Board of County Commissioners unanimously approved a lease on March 3 to allow the Spokane County Noxious Weed Control Board to continue leasing space at the Spokane Cooperative Extension building, 222 North Havana Street in Spokane Valley.
Special Deputy Prosecutor Jim Amacio presented the item and explained legal and advertising requirements for county leases, described the leased premises (various rooms at the Extension building), said the facilities and budget departments set the square-foot rental rates, and noted a consumer-price-index escalation clause was included. Amacio also said Room 108F is listed in the lease but currently used by another occupant; the weed board may lease that room when it becomes available.
Dave Mundt, the weed-board coordinator, told the commissioners the board has leased space at the Extension building since the building opened; "We've actually rented that space for 50 years," he said, and reported the weed board voted unanimously to support the new lease.
A commissioner moved to approve the lease, the motion was seconded, and the board voted in favor without opposition.
The approved lease includes standard termination provisions, square-foot rates for office and storage, and no charge for parking as described in the public presentation.
