Summary
The planning board continued public hearing for Becker's package store (petition 119) to April 1 after the applicant requested a continuance; the application seeks a special permit for two family units and a ~4,139 sq ft ground-floor addition and 2,683 sq ft second floor.
The Yarmouth Planning Board on March 18 continued the public hearing for Becker's package store petition 119 to April 1 at 5:30 p.m., after the applicant requested more time to complete materials and accommodate scheduling conflicts.
Joanne Crowley, chair of the Yarmouth Planning Board, read the published notice and the application details, saying the proposal would add approximately 4,139 square feet to the first floor (for a total building area of about 5,074 square feet) and a 2,683-square-foot second floor to create two 2-bedroom residential units at 49 and 55 Route 28 and 10 Drews Way. The applicant is listed in filings as Huza Fia (spelled Hazafia in a later submission) Corporation and is seeking a special permit under zoning bylaw section 202.5 (use code A2) to allow a two-family dwelling; any other relief would be pursued through the Zoning Board of Appeals.
Cathy Williams, the town planner, told the board the applicant's representative, William Lavery of Joe Casale Engineering, respectfully requested the continuance to the April 1 meeting because of prior postponements and municipal scheduling conflicts. Williams said testimony and the opportunity for public comment will be taken at the continued hearing, both in the hearing room and via remote access using the same webinar ID.
A member moved to continue the hearing and the motion carried by voice vote. The board did not take further testimony at the March 18 meeting; Crowley invited any applicant representative on Zoom to speak but none appeared.
The board packet and application materials are on file at the Yarmouth Planning Division and available online; written comments were accepted through March 17 for the originally noticed hearing. The continued hearing on April 1 was set to include the same access options and to receive public testimony and questions.
