He said the $473,254.81 figure excludes city‑procured items (sports lighting poles estimated at about $157,000 and park audio speakers about $25,000), which are included separately in the overall project budget.
Staff said alternates were bid separately because funding became available after initial advertising; the city aims to install lighting poles in early May and have the contractor mobilize later in May, with substantial completion expected in late July or early August. Council members asked about contractor experience and references; Ritter said Liberty Landworks has relevant public‑works and paving experience and that references checked out.
The motion to award the contract and authorize the city manager to finalize and execute the construction contract passed unanimously.
