City Manager Justin reported April 11 that the city has installed livestream cameras at the baseball fields in Newman Park and is rolling the system out for scheduled youth games. Since the launch the city has streamed 19 games and recorded over 2,100 total views, Justin said, and cameras for softball fields were being added to cover girls’ softball.
Justin also reported the city participated in a statewide emergency-alert system test last week; all city systems functioned properly with no delays in sending notifications, he said, and he recognized James Smith (emergency management) and Kathleen Cox (communications) for their roles in the exercise.
Finally, Justin announced a new 'Sweetwater Stories' partnership with the Pioneer Museum that will highlight local people and traditions; the next story will focus on a tornado that struck 40 years earlier. The council watched a short community story during the meeting.
