"The paid parking has worked. It has kept a certain element out of the park and we've reclaimed the park for family members," Chief Barry told the council, and staff noted revenues support maintenance. The current rate structure is $4 for four hours and $10 for an all‑day pass; the city sold 11 season passes in the first year at $50 each.
Councilmembers discussed whether the $10 full‑day charge is too high for short family visits and asked staff to explore ParkMobile options that would allow shorter incremental additions (for example, adding an hour) rather than repurchasing a full block. Staff said the ParkMobile app is configurable and a staff ordinance amendment could adjust fee language if the council desires to change rates.
The council left the program in place for the coming season and directed staff to return with any technical changes needed for ParkMobile and a proposed fee schedule if desired.
