The Bonney Lake City Council unanimously approved resolution AB 26‑18 on March 3 to rename Downtown Park as Veterans Memorial Park and directed staff to work with the Greater Bonney Lake Veterans Memorial Committee to update a 2012 memorandum of understanding.
"This is part of what we're recommending tonight," Councilmember Baldwin said in support, thanking staff and committee members who attended the meeting. Director Jason Sullivan noted that the Greater Bonney Lake Veterans Memorial Committee had participated in review and recommended moving forward.
The council moved, seconded and voted in favor; staff will return with the MOU updates as directed. The action was taken as a consent‑agenda item and approved without recorded opposition.
What happens next: Staff will collaborate with the veterans’ committee to revise the memorandum of understanding and carry out the renaming process, including any signage and administrative updates.
