Project representatives described a connector corridor linking the new building to the existing garage and said the second-floor living space is intended for an aging family member. The presentation estimated roughly 188 square feet of additional coverage and outlined parking and storage below the dwelling. Neighbors and board members raised concerns about visibility from the street (a large tree obstructs views) and whether the house will be formally classified as a five-bedroom dwelling.
On septic, the presenter said tests had been performed by Mike Williams and that the design package includes an updated septic plan; the representative said Dutchess County Health Department approval is pending and suggested providing a DOH approval letter for the board record. Board members said a DOH letter would help the board assess capacity and timing.
The board discussed whether to leave the hearing open to collect these materials; the chair explained the 62-day window to issue a resolution and suggested holding the hearing open while allowing time for the site visit and DOH documentation. With no substantial new objections from neighbors, the board voted to continue the hearing to May 20. The applicant will submit renderings and the DOH correspondence prior to the continuation.
