Joliet Township High School District 204 board elects officers, affirms 2025–26 meeting schedule

The Joliet Township High School District 204 Board of Trustees elected Matthew Kennedy president and Lorraine Guerrero Neumayer vice president at a special reorganization meeting Monday, May 5, at the district administrative center, 300 Caterpillar Drive in Joliet.
The reorganization meeting began at 5:00 p.m. with roll call and the Pledge of Allegiance. Mrs. Stiff administered the Oath of Office to Matthew Kennedy, Lorraine Guerrero Neumayer and Christine Lynn before the board moved to officer elections.
Mrs. Stiff moved to appoint Matthew Kennedy president pro-tem; nominations for president were then opened and Mrs. Stiff nominated Kennedy. The board recorded unanimous ayes and elected Matthew Kennedy president.
President Kennedy nominated Lorraine Guerrero Neumayer for vice president. The board voted with six ayes and one no (Mr. Fitzpatrick); Guerrero Neumayer was elected vice president.
Nominations for secretary produced competing nominations: Kennedy nominated Mrs. Stiff and Mr. Fitzpatrick nominated Dr. Huntington. A roll-call vote on the nomination of Mrs. Stiff produced four ayes (Mrs. Stiff, Mr. Kennedy, Mrs. Lynn, Mrs. Guerrero Neumayer) and three nays (Mr. Coffey, Mr. Fitzpatrick, Dr. Huntington); Mrs. Stiff was declared secretary.
The board unanimously approved the reaffirmation of its 2025–2026 regular meeting schedule after a motion by Lorraine Guerrero Neumayer seconded by Mr. Coffey. Separately, the board approved a resolution authorizing the facsimile signature of board officers on a motion by Dr. Huntington, seconded by Mrs. Stiff, carried on a unanimous roll-call vote.
Mrs. Stiff nominated Christine Lynn to serve as the district’s representative to the Governing Board of the IASB; the nomination was seconded and approved unanimously.
In brief remarks after the reorganizational business, President Matthew Kennedy thanked the board for the opportunity to serve and said he will continue working to move the board in a positive direction. Board members shared reports on recent events: Dr. Huntington and others praised students’ participation in the CEO Trade Show and reported on the Kermes and a Walk a Mile event.
By unanimous consent the special meeting was adjourned at 5:23 p.m.
