Dunlap board approves multiple hires and HR consent agenda; recognizes state speaking champion and schedules Wilder‑Waite groundbreaking

The Dunlap Community Unit School District #323 Board of Education on March 18 approved a Human Resources consent agenda that included multiple new hires (teachers, aides, coaches, nurse and district staff), transfers, terminations and a settlement agreement with parents for Student 55017.
The HR consent agenda was moved by Theresa Holshouser and seconded by Tim Wagenbach and passed by unanimous roll call. The minutes list new hires across schools and roles including paraprofessionals, teachers in language arts, science and band, a nurse for Dunlap Middle School, and district positions such as an accounts payable secretary and human resources generalist.
The board also recognized Dunlap High School senior Tommy Jaeger with a Certificate of Recognition for winning first place in IHSA Extemporaneous Speaking. Teacher Jeremy Conlee introduced students from Wilder‑Waite Grade School who spoke briefly about Project Impact, a program described as teaching empathy and leadership through service projects.
District staff reported six FOIA requests since the prior meeting; five were completed by Mr. McKenzie and one remained in progress. The board was also told that Vic Zimmerman, an IASB Executive Searches Consultant, will present results of the superintendent search survey at the April meeting.
District announcements included a Wilder‑Waite groundbreaking ceremony scheduled for April 17 at 11:15 a.m., a notice that Dunlap Valley Middle School and Dunlap Middle School will clear older trophies the week of April 20 for community pickup, and a calendar update that school will be in session Friday, May 15 due to use of a second emergency day.
Board member Youssef Boudjarane publicly commended the Dunlap High School Muslim Student Organization for feeding more than 100 people during Ramadan and spoke against negative social media comments about the group. Wrestling coach Erick Mueller addressed the board to thank members for supporting the junior high intramural wrestling program.
The meeting adjourned to closed session for litigation and returned to open session to complete the HR agenda items; the board adjourned at 7:53 p.m.
