Fiscal Court approves bids, contracts, appointments and settlement allocations

At its June 17 session the Montgomery County Fiscal Court approved sealed bids (low bidders read and accepted), a Regional Jail adult detention agreement for FY2025–26, a cost-of-living increase for county employees, farm-animal disposal assistance funding up to $12,500, board reappointments and acceptance of an opioid settlement allocation for Payment Year 5 of $50,641.75; the court also approved the KPDI resolution and MOU to advance the Walters Industrial Park packet.
The Montgomery County Fiscal Court voted on multiple routine and substantive items at its June 17 meeting, approving sealed-bid awards, contracts, personnel items and settlement distributions.
Procurement and bids: The court opened sealed bids for crushed limestone, hot-mix asphalt and other materials, read the low bids on the record (including Walker Company and others named in the packet) and voted to accept the low bids. Motions were made and seconded on the record; the court carried the motions.
Contracts and agreements: The court approved the Montgomery County Regional Jail adult detention agreement for July 1, 2025 through June 30, 2026 covering Menifee, Fleming, Lewis, Fayette and Brown counties. The court also approved a renewal agreement with Southern Health Partners for inmate health services for the jail (contract period beginning July 2025 through June 30, 2026).
Budget and personnel: The court approved a cost-of-living increase for county employees for the 2025–26 fiscal year. The county also accepted a $12,500 funding arrangement with the Kentucky Agricultural Development Board for a deceased farm animal disposal assistance program.
Appointments: The court reappointed Mike Keith and Anna Carol Murphy to two-year terms on the Sarah Wynn board, reappointed Shane McCormick and Eric Mabel to sanitation and related boards, and appointed Bob Powell to complete a tourism board term through June 1, 2027.
Settlements and financials: The court accepted the National Opioid Settlement Payment Year 5 allocation shown in the packet as $50,641.75 for Montgomery County and approved the county treasurer's report and bills; the treasurer noted an apparent revenue difference of about $211,000 after reconciling a prior budget adjustment.
Economic development packet: The court approved a resolution authorizing Montgomery County to serve as grantee for a KPDI grant for the Walters/Walkers Industrial Park and approved a related memorandum of understanding with the industrial development authority, actions that will allow the packet to be submitted to the Kentucky Economic Development Finance Authority board for final review.
