At its April 13 meeting the Monroe School District Board of Education recognized students and staff from across the district.
Students honored included Vera Navarro (Abe Lincoln) and third-graders Aspen Corning and Ray Cubley for kindness, leadership and consistent demonstration of school values. Middle school honoree Josh Kroll was recognized for academic effort and creativity, and Monroe High School freshman Mickey Andrews was praised for classroom leadership and athletic accomplishments. The board presented certificates and Barnes & Noble gift cards to each student.
Sarah Warren, leader of the Northside special education team, was named staff member of the month. Board members and colleagues credited Warren with student-centered practice, cross-grade collaboration and mentoring of new staff; Warren noted a caseload of 11 students and thanked her support team.
These recognitions opened the meeting and preceded consent and business items.
