Summary

Dr. Ross White, giving the facilities report, said district security systems are being upgraded to an access-control software solution that integrates with human-resources systems and will provide real-time notifications across campuses. "This upgrade is a response to concerns in the safety audit," Dr. White said.
He added that a contractor had repaired the Glenside generator so that it now runs at full capacity; the committee therefore plans to recommend rejecting a bid for a new generator. Kitchen heating units at Meijer's were improved and athletic fields received attention; the stadium project is moving toward an anticipated readiness date for graduation pending construction timing.
Dr. White also reported that the Friends of Cheltenham, a volunteer group, will offer remaining funds of about $25,000 to enhance the high school’s supplemental weight room and improve availability for student athletes. The facilities committee recommended accepting the donation.
Why it matters: upgrades to security and repairs to critical infrastructure address safety-audit recommendations and reduce near-term capital spending; the donation will expand athletic access for students.
What’s next: the facilities committee will present specific recommendations on hardware purchases, maintenance contracts and the acceptance of the Friends of Cheltenham donation at a subsequent agenda item.
